How much do kitchen countertops cost in San Diego?

Installed kitchen counters in San Diego run $2,500-$8,500 for a typical 35-50 square foot kitchen in mid-range quartz. Granite and butcher block come in slightly below. Premium quartz, marble, and quartzite can push $9,000-$18,000+. Sink and faucet cutouts, edge profiles, and waterfall panels add cost.

Quartz vs. granite: which is better for a San Diego kitchen?

Quartz is the more common pick in San Diego remodels because it is consistent, low-maintenance, and does not need sealing. Granite is harder and more heat-tolerant, so it is still common around ranges. Marble looks beautiful but etches from acid (lemon, wine) and is best for low-use kitchens or islands.

How long from template to install?

Plan on 7-14 business days for most quartz and granite fabricators in San Diego. Marble and quartzite can take longer for stock and matching. Templating is done after the cabinets are level and all appliances are on-site, and install usually takes 4-6 hours for a typical kitchen.

Can you replace counters without removing the cabinets?

Yes, in most cases we remove the old counters, check cabinet level, shim as needed, and install the new slab on top of the existing boxes. If the cabinets are unlevel by more than 3/8 inch across the run, we may need to add a sub-top or shim the run before templating.

What about seams in long counters?

Most kitchens have at least one seam, typically over a dishwasher or in a corner. We place seams where they are least visible, use color-matched adhesive, and set them tight enough that you can run your finger across without catching. The fabricator approves seam locations before cutting.
